Sunday Afternoon Pittsburgh Camera Phone Photoblogging

by: admin

Sun Aug 16, 2009 at 13:14:14 PM CDT

The good old Blackberry Camera phone. Probably time to upgrade and start bringing a real digital on my trips.

Downtown Pittsburgh - including PNC Park, the Allegheny River, Random Buildings, the gold Leed certified David L. Lawrence Pittsburgh Convention center, and August Henry's - the site of much debauchery last night

Netroots Update - Overslept ; Polling Panel inspired

by: admin

Thu Aug 13, 2009 at 12:20:14 PM CDT

Just wrapped up the morning sessions of the first day of Netroots Nation 2009 - (hashtag #nn09 at Twitter) -

Overslept so missed the first session - but gave me a chance to plot out the day - I made a last minute decision to check out the How to Get the Most Out of the Polling Data You Read About Panel - the all-star cast of Greg Dworkin, Charlie Cook, Mark Blumenthal, Nate Silver and Charles Franklin lived up to their billing. Will post more about what I learned later. Cool fact - Charles Franklin is originally from Union Springs, Alabama (Bullock County).

Then got my autographed copy of Taking on the System by Markos himself - Had a great five minute discussion with him about Alabama Politics - he was very engaging and asked some very good questions -

Now about to eat some lunch - no I won't tell you that I had a Ham Sandwich (an inside joke for my DFA participants and twitter followers)

Live From Pittsburgh - Netroots Nation 2009

Wow - It's been a year since Netroots Nation 2008 in Austin. Just got to Pittsburgh and extremely pumped about the festivities. So many discussions and events to choose from.

If you are unable to attend you can watch live and chat on facebook .

Some of the panels that I'm considering attending:

1. Not just for elections: ActBlue fundraising to influence policy - I'm an Act Blue fanatic and I am very excited about learning new tricks

2. Reporting DoJ Misconduct Scandals: Why Netroots Remains Last Hope for Justice

- ran into Governor Siegelman at the airport this morning in Birmingham. He will be participating in this panel.

3. Conversation with Valerie Jarrett - close adviser to President Obama - what an impressive resume to boot

4. The Opening Keynote with President Bill Clinton - I've had a chance to hear him speak twice and always a treat

If you are going to be there we look forward to seeing you. If you are not perhaps you will check it out on the tubes. Let us know if there are some other items on the agenda that we should check out as well.

Heading Out To Netroots Nation

by: admin

Tue Aug 11, 2009 at 22:08:39 PM CDT

I'm headed out to Pittsburgh in the morning - If anyone not going or that is not leaving until Thursday could post a diary that would be great.

Will try and give daily updates - I'm going to try and meet Tarryl Clark on Friday as I was informed she's holding office hours.

Looking forward to see how the netroots respond to President Clinton.

Excited about the opportunity to learn and hone my craft.

Netroots Nation 2009 - Pittsburgh Here We Come We Hope

by: admin

Mon Jul 13, 2009 at 21:43:54 PM CDT

We really want to join our fellow bloggers at Netroots Nation  in Pittsburgh next month. Last year provided us with an invaluable experience meeting bloggers from all over the world as well as learning much about our craft. We were inspired by the elected officials and candidates present.

We understand that everyone is in a financial jam, but we also want to continue to provide a great service to our followers.

Can you go to our Chip In page  and help us lower the costs? I am estimating that it will cost about $1,000 for the trip. I would like to be able to subsidize half of this with donations.

Anything you can do to help would be much appreciated.
